Offshore wind is the fastest growing renewable energy, and bp’s goal is to be a leader in core markets. It has a big role to play in reaching our ambition of 50GW of net developed capacity by 2030.
Wind energy is not new to bp, we have a successful 1.7GW onshore wind energy business in the United States. Our partnership with Equinor secured 4GW of high-quality access in the US, the world’s fastest growing offshore wind market. And in the UK, with our strategic partner EnBW, we are the ‘preferred bidder’ for two high-quality leases in the Irish Sea for a further 3.3GW, enough to power 3.4million homes.
