Neptune Energy is an independent E&P company with a global portfolio of low cost, long life and lower carbon producing assets and projects, with a strong presence in the UK, Norwegian and Dutch sectors of the North Sea and in Germany, as well as in North Africa and Asia Pacific. The company’s New Energy team is scaling partnerships and investments in low carbon technologies, particularly hydrogen, carbon capture and storage and electrification.
The Neptune-operated Q13a-A platform in the Dutch sector will host the world’s first offshore green hydrogen project. The platform will house an electrolyser that will produce green hydrogen from renewable energy, then blend the hydrogen with natural gas and transported it onshore via existing pipelines. The hydrogen project – the first of its kind to be hosted on a working offshore platform – will help unlock the insights necessary for large-scale offshore green hydrogen production.
Neptune has also submitted an application for a blue hydrogen and CCS project for the UK North Sea which is being considered by the Oil & Gas Authority.
