What are The cHeRries Awards and what do they aim to do? 

The awards were set up to recognise excellence in the fields of human resources, training, recruitment and organisational effectiveness across Scotland. Celebrating individuals, teams and business who are paving the way in human resources, training and recruitment across a variety of sectors. 

Entries are invited in eleven award categories. Further to this, the Top cHeRry Award for Outstanding Contribution, the most prestigious cHeRry award to be won, is selected by a panel of judges. 

 

What are the benefits of entering? 

Entering The cHeRries Awards provides an opportunity to review key areas of success, and what contributed to it, in an individual, team and business context. It gives the opportunity for businesses to celebrate key individuals and teams, who have excelled over the last 12 months. Furthermore, putting your business forward to The cHeRries Awards gives you the chance to be benchmarked against peers and competitors whilst raising your profile in the local area. 

  

Who is eligible to enter the awards? 

The awards are open to any individual, team and/or business of any size which is headquartered or has significant business and employment interests in Scotland. 

  

How do I enter? 

Browse the categories and the corresponding criteria to determine which is/are the most relevant to your business, individual and/or team. The entry form can be completed via the online form, or provided as a word document and once completed, returned to Sharon Methven (Senior Event Manager) at smethven@dcthomson.co.uk

  

What supporting material is accepted? 

Any relevant marketing support material which you feel would add weight to your entry can be entered. Please note that all entries require an organogram to be submitted along with the entry form, this can either be done so within the entry form or sent separately as supporting material. What are the criteria?

Can I enter multiple categories? 

Individual, teams and/or business can enter as many categories as desired and a separate entry form must be completed for each category along with any supporting evidence. 

 

Is there an entry fee? 

There is no cost for entering The cHeRries Awards. 

  

What is the closing date for entries? 

The entry period will close at midnight on Sunday 28th January, 2024.

  

What is the judging process? 

All entries will be judged on the criteria outlined in the category section. Each category is judged by a selection of our judging panel. Following an initial review of the entry forms, the selected judges will identify who they’d like to bring forward for an interview. All chosen individuals, teams and companies will then partake in a 30-minute interview with a selection of the judges, following this the strongest candidates will then be shortlisted for the award. 

 

When will I know if I’ve successfully made it to the interview stage? 

All successful candidates will be contacted by a member of the DC Thomson Events team no later than 5pm on Wednesday 21st March, 2024. This communication will provide details on how to book your interview. 

 

When do the interviews take place? 

You will be allocated a 30-minute interview time slot on/around Thursday 7th March, 20242 – exact date TBC. We will try our upmost to book you in at a convenient time, however interview slots are allocated on a first come first served basis. 

 

What happens during the interview? What do I need to prepare? 

You will not need to prepare anything specific for the interview, however it is highly recommended that someone well versed with the details within the entry form attends. The judges will be looking to delve deeper into your entry form and find out more information about the details contained within it. Please note that a maximum of 2 people can attend the interview. 

  

When will the shortlist be announced? 

The shortlist will be announced circa Thursday 28th March, 2024. A member of the DC Thomson Events team will contact all finalists directly. 

 

When and where is the awards ceremony? 

The cHeRries Awards 2024 ceremony and dinner will be held at P&J Live on Thursday 13th June, 2024. 

  

How can I attend the awards ceremony?
